Yes, as suggested read back a few pages and look for posts by tucs. He's linked to it in here.

I wanted to share my experience for others who are having trouble rooting their Razr M (XT907) using this method. I am NOT an experienced rooter, and don't know all the forums well or understand all the technical stuff. I just found this using trial and error.
I was on system version 98.12.4.XT907.Verizon.en.US (my phone had downloaded the 98.18.78.en.US update but I wisely didn't install it yet). I am on Windows 7 64-bit. I followed these instructions.
Yet I received two big errors when running "run.bat" from the motochopper package:
But it continued and said "Rooting phone", then "daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037" and "daemon started successfully." It even finally said "Success!" and "Exploit complete." But upon reboot, I did not in fact have root access. Rooting had failed.
So I kept fiddling around with stuff and finally discovered the solution:
I had to replace the "adb.exe" file in the motochopper package with the latest "adb.exe" file from the actual Android SDK. Now it worked perfectly and I have root access on my Razr M.
So, if you are having the same problem I did, just do what I did. Go to
and under "DOWNLOAD FOR OTHER PLATFORMS" pick installer_r22.0.4-windows.exe. Then run the installation, install the program anywhere you please (and MAKE A NOTE of where it installs), and when the Android SDK Manager program pops up (either automatically after installing, or manually by opening from Start Menu), uncheck everything except "Android SDK Platform tools" under Tools, and click "Install 1 package" and it'll download. (That's all it does. It downloads the latest ADB stuff. It doesn't install anything in Windows, just downloads the files.) Go into wherever you installed the program, under "platform-tools" and you'll see adb.exe. If you can't find it, just search your hard drive for it and find the one under "platform-tools".
You now have a fresh new version of adb.exe. Rename the one in your unzipped motochopper folder to something like adb-backup.exe, and copy over the new adb.exe. Re-run the "run.bat" file, and PRESTO! Should work, if for whatever reason you were having the same problem as I was.

For those who are waiting for a more...automated...way to downgrade to MR2, apply and protect root, and re-upgrade to 9.8.79 I've added a new download to my RAZR HD Emporium thread here:
The utility has everything self contained and is scripted with 6 steps. I've updated Motochopper with new ADB and new su binaries. I've tested it on my UNLOCKED RAZR HD but someone who's locked will need to test it on their phone to make sure it works properly.
RAZR M folks hang in there. I hear an option may present itself for you guys and gals, as well.

I suggest you read all the threads about the recent update. Then come back and read the last few pages of this thread.

My smartass replies, btw, can be avoided by people posting actual useful information about what build they're on, what device they're trying to root, a detailed description of what they tried, and where "it failed". Saying "didn't work" or "it failed" is going to continue to get smartass replies as it's pointless to even try to help with such little info to go on.

The update blocks this root exploit as well as the bootloader unlock motopocalypse . IF you unlocked your bootloader prior to the recent update, you can restore root through a custom recovery. If not, there is no current exploit for root.
Right, I learned this a bit after-the-fact. My bootloader is locked and I accidentally took the 907 OTA update. I may try the solution posted by tucstwo on Jul 24th...will let you know. thanks!!

I created a utility to mostly automate the process outlined by Tucs. It should make it fairly painless.

I just got my Razr HD on last Saturday. All I was able to do was root my phone before I flew out for a business trip without my windows laptop. Anyways I lost root after I received the latest update.
SamuriHL your script worked flawlessly for my phone and was very simple to use. I have gained root access once again. Many thanks. Now get that bootloader unlocked for us people late to the party...Just kidding thanks for the script to root after receiving the update. It was a phone saver.

I don't know anything about rooting, but I need it to make Google Play believe I am in a country where I can buy their Ebooks.
Any useful information highly appreciated.
Kind regards.
