Hey everyone.
So I had previously rooted my phone before, but I think it got lost in the 4.1.2 update. I did a factory reset on my phone and tried this utility with no luck, as Superuser was still on my phone despite Titanium Backup saying I had no root. Failing that, I tried installing the latest Android Dev Kit following
. I got that installed just fine. Then I tried to restore (with Option 1) my phone, then immediately after doing that tried both the motochopper and it failed again. I then uninstalled previous Motorola drivers and used the 64 bit ones supplied by Matt's utility. This is the message I'm seeing with motochopper:Any ideas? I'm kind of new to this stuff... I can follow directions pretty well anyway. I'm kind of at a loss for this one. Is there some sort of guide for getting my Razr back to square one? I feel like some residual stuff on it is preventing me from getting it rooted again.
If it helps, I'm running Windows 7 64bit with latest updates. If there is any sort of direction someone could point me in I'd be much appreciative, thanks!

Well it looks like you have the OG Razr. This root is for the Razr HD/M. Use the root in Matt's Utility that you have

Wow, no wonder I couldn't find this topic in the XT912 section. I feel dumb, sorry everyone!

While see the OP says this MAY work on other devices and you have tried it but it doesn't work I would suggest a forum based on your device. Maybe XDA?? Sorry but most here probably don't have any experience with your device.

Ok, I know this is a dumb n00b question. If I were to run this utility to get my boot loader unlocked and achieve root, will it affect my phone in the way I currently have it setup or just make it unlocked with root access?

You do not lose any data when you unlock it. It's a very quick process that simply leaves you unlocked. Better still, you can flash recovery like TWRP or CWM and then you can backup FULLY your current install.
Non potest esse nisi unus

Ok, thank you. That is what I was thinking but was unsure as I have never ventured into the realm of an unlocked boot loader. I will run the program very soon.

Finally a root that works. Someone on another android site put this up but changed a few things and it failed twice. Did this once and I was rooted. Now to delete bloatware. Thanks a million.

This one is for the HD Razr. You need
one. You will need to do it in Linux though...
