LOL no problem I wouldn't have been aware of all this stuff had I not gotten my hands dirty with an N7 and different kernels.

I repeat for everyone who doesn't know already:

If you're still on a stock rom with Safestrap with your bootloader unlocked:

  • You can keep safestrap and flash roms the old way, nothing is stopping you;
  • You can choose to flash any safestrap roms in TWRP since all that's flashed is system,data,cache... just remember you have to be on the stock kernel to do so, and if you flash anything other than your 'safe' rom, you will no longer have safestrap (though if you restore your original stock backup with safestrack, it will magically return :))
  • You can also choose to flash any dev rom with modified kernels, but be warned - you *cannot* reflash safestrap roms over this modified kernel successfully. You have to return to the stock kernel by either restoring from stock nandroid or reflashing from the stock firmware.
  • Until you actually uninstall safestrap and physically re?move the rom slots, they will still be in your filesystem somewhere (it seems once I installed CM, though, they got shuffled around to /data/media). They will still take up valuable space until you remove them.
If anyone else has anything additional to share, please do--- the more we keep people in the know, the better we are as a community!

Thanks so much thats the way I thought it would work but you assured me. Just one question I never could get 3.12 SS to install for some reason Im on 3.9 that shouldnt make a difference should it? Except it wouldnt let me install in stock slot.

So since Dan made the new root exploit for people who took the 4.1.2 OTA, it shouldn't be a problem unlocking the bootloader on 4.1.2, correct?

I'm going to experiment with that too.... by flashing a custom rom with TWRP and installing safestrap on it (if this is possible, I'm about to find out), you won't need safestrap to change the stock rom :ph34r:

I'm confused at why you guys are still messing with Safestrap?? Safestrap was created because of the locked bootloader. With it unlocked you guys should be using a standard recovery.

It's like strapping a generator to your car to get it to work because the gas tank was locked shut but now you can just put gas in the tank and go.

I was wondering the same thing. Have a Razr M. If you get rid of SS and install TWRP won't that get rid of the minimal amount of internal storage issues?

Just ran this on my Droid Razr M (Verizon) took less than 1min. I have SuperSU and just had to grant permissions.

As long as you delete the rom slots you created then yes. I went into safestrap, backed up my romslot 1. Booted into stock slot and deleted rom slot 1. Good to have a backup to try in TWRP? ;)

I'll give you one good reason, until we have true multiboot with TWRP - instantaneous switching from one rom to another. No single Razr HD ROM that I've tried has all the features I need - but some of them, in combination, do together.

edit: NVM, it seems that TWRP is the recovery choice for this device. I was able to restore my SS ROM.

So what's the best Recovery now that we can use them normally? Clockworkmod still a good option or does everyone prefer TWRP?

Can't go wrong with TWRP.
