Rooted on 4.1.2/9.16.6 and cannot get Dans unlock tool to work. I have newest versions of Busybox and SuperSU. In Cmd log, says write error -11. What am I doing wrong here?

Also have re-booted laptop and changed ports. Think I have tried all the obvious (to me anyway, lol) things

Not sure but I dont you need to be rooted to unlock if your on the latest OTA and still have root thats as good as you can get for now exploit was patched.

What I meant by not rooted is it does it all for you.

I did get the last OTA a couple of weeks ago, BEFORE root, but had to downgrade to 9.16.6 to achieve root. Does being on Verizon matter? Wondering if taking the sim card out would make a difference. Also, disabled AVG and tried running as administrator. No deal. Really want to flash recovery and Roms, but stuck with a rooted stock right now.

Did you update the phone to the newer version and then flashed back to an older version?? I ask because this would cause the unlock not to work as the exploit was patched.

Ahhh... this is it. Sorry to say you are out of luck with the unlock at this time.  :(

Horse feathers! Well at least I can stop stressing over it, lol. The love/hate relationship with my Moto continues! I will wait ever so patiently for the day I can flash some cool Roms!

Thank you so much for the info!

HOW UNLOCKING YOUR BOOTLOADER COULD IMPACT YOUR DEVICE

  • You will not be able to watch any movies you downloaded.

- Only if you were dumb enough to buy it from a Verizon service tied to a verizon app.. even then..

Look into XBMC if you want to invest in the ability to stream every movie and TV show ever.

  • Applications may not work anymore.

They work better than before, because the phone is not bloated

  • You may lose encryption support.

Can't comment here, but w/e

  • You may lose some key functions like telephone, radio, and audio playback.

I actually am using my own Rom for the first time (!) and find that I can actually stream music and download music for free, from MIUIs servers through the native music app.

Calls and everything else are fine

  • You could cause permanent/physical damage to your device.

lol

If your phone is on the recent update the bootloader unlock has been patched

Well darn. I feel like a dimwit now xD. Well I suppose all I can do is speculate, wait, or attempt to unlock it myself. Hmmmm.... By chance can I revert to ICS in some form or fashion and unlock via that version?

Once its been updated you can only downgrade to gain root the trusted zone where the unlock exploit was found doesn't change when you downgrade.

There won't be another unlock, either.  We had one window of opportunity and that window is now shut and reenforced with bars across it.  LOL

It's still useful for safestrap roms. And I updated motochopper so that it can be rooted on the new update, as well.
