Wonder if the work here will be applicable to providing unlocked bootloaders on older non-OMAP devices, For purely selfish reasons im curious about the snapdragon S1 based devices like the DefyXT.
Im a republic wireless customer, and they leave us completely out in the cold in regards to support, not even providing a ROM image. It would be nice to be able to at least do proper backups with CWM.

Everyone GO TO BED. I PROMISE YOU, With a Cherry on top, it's not dropping tonight. If it does, it's a gift from the unlock Gods. Otherwise, hit the hay. The "rumors" are that it's gonna be til tomorrow. And take those rumors as "educated" guesses on my behalf *wink wink*
Ok guys? Please. Something this serious needs to be PEFECT before 500 million enthusiasts tear it apart. You heard it here.
No, they can't void your warranty with this unlock route. They would need proof. And since you're not registering you device with Motodev with this, they have NO IDEA who's gonna be unlock and who isn't.
No, I'm Sorry. There is 2 people who can unlock an XT912 or ANY OMAP device and that is the Motorola security team and ummm, God. That's it. There is NO WAY. NEVER EVER it can be done without DIRECT Motorola server hacking.
You've at least me from worrying I've missed something overnight lol

Before anyone asks, this will NOT work on the OMAP based Motorola phones like the DROID RAZR XT912 or the DROID BIONIC XT875.
Oh well.... that might mark my time to upgrade to the Maxx HD or S4.

So why won't this work for the bionic,d4 and RAZR?
Because they're OMAP devices.

So why won't this work for the bionic,d4 and RAZR?
Because Stone Cold Steve Austin said so.
And that's the bottom line.

Guessing moto has higher security on the omap phones... Probably because if the bionic,RAZR or d4 was unlocked it would work on the other omap phones as well. Maybe one day the omap devices will be unlocked. Dreams are just that tho...
The security used on the RAZR/ATRIX HD is QFuse. That was what got cracked, the exploit blows the QFuse and voila boatloader unlocked.
The security used in Moto OMAPs is eFuse. In these devices instead of an intact fuse keeping the device locked, a blown eFuse keeps the device locked. There is no way to repair this fuse. THE ONLY WAY FOR OMAP DEVICES TO BE UNLOCKED IS FOR MOTO TO UNLOCK IT. PERIOD. END OF STORY. Unless we get their signing keys that is.
These fuses are on the motherboard.

There's already an official bootloader unlocking procedure for all the devices mentionned in your document (Atrix HD, Razr M and RAZR HD), except for the MAXX HD: https://motorola-glo...tail/a_id/87215

If you're referring to the XT925, those can be unlocked via the Moto website, along with the Developer Editions. You are correct.
The XT926 (CDMA, not GSM) cannot. Also, the Maxx HD cannot be unlocked because it is CDMA only as well. It is Identical to the RAZR HD , save for the larger battery and increased storage. It holds the XT926 model number as well.
This only really applies to the locked down Americans that didn't pay $600 for a Dev Edition (Pretty much everyone).
