no benefit. strictly for demonstration purposes

I mean, I guess you could try it if you have one. You can unlock and relock the dev edition. But this is done with 2 similar but still different processes. Well, the outcome's the same, but the procedure is different. Like it was mentioned, I wouldn't even try to run it on an already unlocked device. But, who can comment? Basically NO ONE has seen the code behind this and we more than likely won't as Dan typically compiles his exploits into executable binaries to protect the code (for a little while at least). So, we just never will really know.

Don't confuse fastboot oem unique_key with fastboot oem get-unlock_data.

unlock_key is the file they email to you to unlock/lock the bootloader.
get_unlock_data generates your device ID to apply for the unlock file.

If you deleted it, you may need to contact Motorola. Because that file is unique to your phone and idk if you can just run through the process again like it never happened. Always keep those unlock keys safe.

I believe they used RSD Lite and the unique_key for the Photon Q IIRC.

Some truly insane work here. Once you have it unlocked and get a custom recovery on it, basically you never have to worry about losing root again. So even if there isn't a lot of development going on, this is still very valuable. Nice work, Dan! As always.

Sweet baby jesus. I do hope they figure out root soon, because I accepted the OTA a while ago figuring might as well be on stock in case of updates, never in my wildest dreams did I think they would ever unlock this.

Motorola just told me I would have to send it to them to relock. It is $105 and will take 5 business days after they receive it. This is not a developer device. What a bunch of malarkey.

Once unlock why in the world would anyone want to relock it. Defeats the purpose of spending the $$ on a Dev edition in the first place.
