That....was FANTASTIC. I don't care about reviews. I don't care that the little millenniels don't like it. As a fan who's watched these movies since I was 4 years old, I loved that movie. Was it perfect? Not by a long shot. Was it amazing culmination of over 40 years worth of story telling? Yes, it absolutely was. So many things to detail but I'll just leave this thread here so we can discuss.

P.S. Since this is a spoiler thread I'll share this because I'm a huge lightsaber fan obviously.
LOVED Leia's lightsaber!!!!!!!! FANTASTIC!
And Rey turning her staff into a sentinel lightsaber. WOW! Absolutely EPIC!

Oh, and because I'm a student of the sword and love lightsabers so much, I was correct about Force Awakens when I said she was a palpatine. Everyone thought I was insane but her style with a lightsaber matched his almost exactly. And in Last Jedi, again in the ligthsaber battle, she allowed passion and anger to rule her fighting style. All clues to lead us to the inevitable conclusion. What does bother me a bit is it's never really explained how palpatine "survived" if you can call it that. I'm wondering if that'll be left to Mandalorian and/or other shows to explore.

- Mandalorian Episode was moved up in order to set a precedent of baby yoda using the Force to heal. They were worried about people buying Rey's ability in the movie.
Now to the movie:
The bad:
- The first 45 minutes were a rushed, convuluded mess that centered around old Leia footage being forced into the movie. Did it "work?" Sure.......but it was so obvious that it was a bit painful to watch unfold.
- Knights of Ren were forced into the movie/trilogy in the worst way. Boring and useless.
- Then entire movie basically retconned The Last Jedi. She wasnt/isnt the last Jedi cuz Disney wouldnt DARE go there but we all know Rey is pregnant with Ben's life force baby. But her putting a hand to her belly in the sunset scene would have put the feminist Rey lovers into a frenzy.
- No Hayden Christiansen. This was so blatantly obvious what a lot of people wanted. He could have stepped in when the life force was being drained from Ben and Rey. That would have been an EPIC moment for Hayden to step in against his old master. Instead we were left wondering why Palps didnt drain ALL of the life force from the two of them. He DIDNT need them anymore.
- What was the point of the kid with the broom at the end of Last Jedi? Yet more evidence that the 2nd movie of the Trilogy was retconned.
The good/great:
- Ben's redemption. The scene with Harrison ford was PERFECTLY written/shot/and acted. They were standing in the exact same way they were standing on the bridge when Ben killed him. He even says "I know what I have to do, but I dont know if I have the courage to do it." Exact same line as the first movie. This time he simply chose the right thing.
- Palpatine being the puppet master really did make sense for the Franchise end story. Snoke should have never been used. He was a pointless character without a given history. We should have had Palps all along.
- Rey's full Jedi ability once she received the power of all Jedi was epic. Passing the saber to Ben via the Force was great.
- The kiss was good. The sexual tension between the two had been strong since the first Movie. You could FEEL Disney refusing to allow the kiss and finally giving in. And again we all know she's prego with a life force baby. Much the same way Anakin was created, most likely.
- The two suns and gold saber was great. However burying the sabers in the sand could mistakenly be taken the wrong way by casual fans.

Knights of Ren irritated me. They traded in lightsabers for medieval weapons? Ugh.
As for the pacing don't forget they cut 22 minutes. I'm hoping they put it back in the home release as an extended version. I feel they could have done a bit more with sheev. And yes, he clearly had sex. Oyyy.
Some of last jedi was retconned, yes, but that was inevitable. It was very divisive and Disney needed a win. The kid with the broom was, and still is, there to show that there will be another generation of jedi.
Anakin showing up would have been good I'll agree. As would obi wan. At least we got their voices. I'm pissed that ahsoka was one of the voices. Her death better be explained at some point as she was one of my favorite characters. I need to see it again to see if ezra was in there, too.
I don't buy your force baby theory although I did make jokes about it before the movie that those were the scenes that were cut. Lol
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and felt it was a very fitting end. Now I'm left with a quandary. I'm not sure what lightsaber I'm going to build in galaxy's edge in a couple weeks. Obviously Rey's would be legendary but if I can make Leia's I may have to consider it.
The question of Luke's green lightsaber was answered outside the movies. The caretakers on achtoo took it and added it to a collection of jedi artifacts in the temple that have been collected for thousands of years. I'm good with that.
P.s. There is.... another....sky..... Walker

I saw an article claiming that it's only a matter of time before Disney totally reboots the saga. No thanks.

It's unlikely. After the failure of Solo they realized they were pushing it. I think they'll take a decade off other than a few shows and then MAYBE they'll start again.

Already forgotten. As Disney has forgotten about it.

So my theory on mini-Yoda / Rey....I think Palpatine uses baby Yoda's DNA to infuse new force powers into Rey which is how she ends up with healing power....something which the Palpatine blood line doesn't naturally have.

I saw it last night and I enjoyed it a lot. Sucks Finn never got to tell Rey that he's force sensitive. I really hope they don't do force baby but I could see it.

Abrams confirmed that's what he wanted to tell her so clearly he's going to be a future Jedi. Probably Disney+. I still maintain he's a Windu and that Mace didn't die in Revenge of the Sith.
I'm with you on this baby thing. NO.

I'm reading about how JJ and Lucas had a totally different movie set up with Matt Smith being the villain. Iger voided it and forced this movie upon JJ.
Lucas' idea centered around the Sith dagger and Matt Smith playing the son of mortis.

Yes, I read the same thing. Disney was VERY unhappy with the failure of SOLO. Kathleen ruled Star Wars with an iron fist and that sealed her fate. Rian took risks that angered fans. There was no way Disney was going to take any more risks with Rise of Skywalker. Unfortunately this had the opposite affect to what they were hoping for. They tried to make this fan service and while it works in many way, it's not popular with critics. I personally loved it and recognize there are issues with it. I think they can now sit back and plan an entirely new direction for Star Wars. Old Republic is the obvious choice going back a few thousand years to see the Sith wars. Would be fun.
