Perfect. Everything is there. You'll need to use this utility to root before unlocking your boot loader. I would also recommend doing option one of the utility first, to start with a clean slate. It'll probably save you some trouble later on down the line. Just be sure you have a fully charged battery before you get started, and you should he good to go.

And I can confirm that you can fastboot back to 4.1.1 from 4.1.2 with this if your unlocked but won't work if your still locked

So, after manually installing the 4.1.2 update from stock recovery(wouldnt just download and flash OTA) At the very end it failed., well it said set parm. failed, but when the phone rebooted, it optimized apps, and then said I was on 4.1.2. Great, just worried something didnt take correctly, I used Matts Utility.  What an awesome, painless piece of work this is.  Thank you very much, within 15 minutes, I was back on 4.1.1(unlocked retail), rooted, and Voodoo installed ready for OTA. So many thanks to Matt!

Well I was one of the unlucky ones that did the OTA yesterday and now I'm trying to get back the 4.1.1 version or find a root for the 4.1.2 version.  I used Matts utility and I get "preflash validation failed Failed (remote failure)" twice and when the phone reboots I'm still on the 4.1.2.

I've tried motochopper, motofail2go, and motopocalypse to root and no succes, oh and also one click root.  I've also used Blur_Version.77.111.10.XT907.Verizon.en.US

, VZW_XT907_4.0.4-7.7.1Q-144_SMQ_S1-36-10_CFC.xml, VZW_XT907_4.1.1-9.8.1Q-27-2-4_1FF.xml all with no avail.  And also tried the motorola recovery mode and RSD lite (the latest one).  Oh by the way i have a Droid Razr M.

Everyone needs to KNOW that Motopocolypse IS NOT for rooting. You must already be rooted to use it.

Once you take the OTA to 4.1.2 you cannot revert back to 4.1.1 unless you have the unlocked bootloader.  There is a root method for 4.1.2 called Motochopper, and If I am not mistaken, even with the OTA 4.1.2 you are still able to do the bootloader unlock hack. which is Motopocolypse as beanerman above me explained.

This is true I'm unlocked and used it to go back to 4.1.1 after OTA but you gotta be unlocked to do so

Hey smartazz69, I just downloaded and used Motochopper for my wifes stock 4.1.2 and it worked perfect. Maybe u got a bad download or old version or something.

I did a factory reset, then tried razr m utility 1.10 to go back to 4.1.1 which failed but successfully wiped my data, reset one more time, then ran Motochopper and it worked.

Don't know if any of that made a difference but thought I would share.

I must be doing something wrong.  I was am running 4.1.2 and trying to get back to 4.1.1 on my RAZR M.  I ran motochopper which appeared to work properly (I see the superuser app installed).  I run the Utility 1.10 while in AP Flashboot mode and see 'failed' messages on both the phone and the PC while it is going through the process, such as "update gpt_main version failed" on the phone.  It does wipe my data but I can't get it to actually downgrade.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as 4.1.2 doesn't play nice with Ford Sync in my car.

Thanks for the quick reply!!  I'm new at this and haven't rooted anything before so I'm not familiar with the process, so I thought rooting was the same thing as unlocking.  I just read through the forum again and I think I understand it now.  First I motochopper to root, then motopocalypse to unlock, and then I can use this utility?

No the root tool does not unlock it. You would know if you unlocked it. It was quite a big deal when the unlock popped up a few weeks back. Use

tool instead. Option 6 unlocks. You need to be unlocked to downgrade.

I feel completely retarded. I could not figure out why this was not working for me and it's just now come to me and its working now. Somehow the folder got duplicated and had a (1) at the end of its name, which caused it not to work. /facepalm

I could use a bit more help.  Now that I'm back to 4.1.1 I would like to stop getting nagged to update to 4.1.2 (before I accidentally do it!).  I searched and found some mention of renaming this file or that file but I guess it is different for each phone.  Can you tell me what I need to do to prevent the update from happening on my Razr M?

Thanks Brandon71!  Titanium looks pretty handy to have.  In a way, I'm glad that 4.1.2 got put on my phone.  It finally forced me to root and learn something new.
