I used the version 5. The "universal" file for stock roms. My own experience with version 7 is it borked the rom every time I have tried it, black screen...
Same here...

Expect tethering in r6 :)

Can't we use SQL Editor to modify the entitlement check to get tethering?

It's not that the SQLite Editor trick doesn't work, it's that not everyone has the app, wants to pay 3 dollars for it, or wants to go through those extra steps to get it working.

If it's baked in, it's easier for us who already use the ROM and is another reason for people to switch from other ROMs that don't offer it.

The way I see it if you have SQLite Editor and bought it for $3 That's a good deal for wifi Tethering. But everyone want something for free, and want someone else to do the leg work.

The Dev's promote they're ROMs (or work) by offering extra goodies like tethering for free. Why pay $3 if you don't have to? And its not like the same people that didn't pay $3 for SQL hasn't made a monetary donation to developers for they're work. So yeah...give me the baked in tethering ROM over the one that don't have it. Extra goodies is what we are all after and that doesn't make us cheap IMO.....

came from R3 and i wiped Everything and installed R5 on Rom Slot 2 and everything so far is good except i logged into the play store and started to re-download my apps and none of them will install. It just has the lines going across the screen like its installing but its not. Anybody else experience this?

Having this issue as well. Tried all the usual stuff.... went into apps/google play and deleted cache/data & force closed.. same, then I went into ss and cleared cache/dalvik and fixed permissions... still same.. then I deleted ROM slot, recreated, and redownloaded/installed... same issue..
Shame Cuz this ROM is snappy!!

I have SQLite Editor. I know that on Breakneck the line to change in Settings Storage for entitlement_check is #66. I also know that the only reason bluetooth tethering is a subscription based service on stock is because Verizon is extremely greedy and, since dropping unlimited data plans, they want as few people as humanly possible getting anything from them that they feel should be a pay-to-use service.

Wifi Hotspot being a pay service? I can understand that. You could essentially set your device as a wireless router in business locations for people to use at-will.
However, Bluetooth tethering requires direct interaction (since default hides devices from scanning) and usually means it's being used by the person paying the phone bill to access internet maybe with a device that can't use ethernet for access, like a tablet.

If baking tethering into the ROM is possible, why shouldn't he want to do it to provide the most accessible and feature-rich experience to his audience? Weighing the investment of time, it might take him, let's say an hour to bake it in, but the countless hours of use his customers enjoy because of his one hour of invested time means people will return to his ROM for future updates, potentially donate more money to him, and spread the word to their friends that this ROM is stable, has tethering, and doesn't come preloaded with a bunch of bloatware.

Edit: Also, let's be honest here. It's against the TOS to root our phones and install custom OS variants; bypassing tethering authentication checks hardly merits each person dropping $3 on an app when they could just as soon donate that $3 to Shobon for his efforts.

Are there any other changes to R6 besides the baked in tether? Just wondering if I should download because I use tether for root users from the playstore.

It also optimizes sqlite databases for all apps on boot. This isn't a huge upgrade, but it'll definitely improve performance a little bit.

Lolol, I know exactly how you feel. But no need, since it's baked into r6 and everyone can go spend that $3 on something else :)

Still having google play issues. For some reason, I can download just fine on 4g &3g, but NOT on wifi?? I dont get it???? Anyone got a suggestion?

Also, Unless you have an unlimited data plan, verizon can not charge you a dime for tethering. Congress hath spoke.... I pay for 6g/mo and if I want to set up my hotspot and let random people use it at will... thats my right! It's my 6gb/mo, and I'll use how ever I want.... So, If you have tiered data, and verizon tries to charge you for it(of course they will try) just tell them they can not, and kindly let them know congress ruled against that.

Everyone is either unaware of or seems to be ignoring wifi tether for root users free in the store. Once you set it up with these settings it is easier touse and it is good to go - Device Profile - Auto - Setup Method - Auto Channel - 11 Change LAN - 192.168.2.0/24 WiFi-driver reload - Checked Routing Fix - Checked. It can be used with any rooted Rom
