I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask, but seeing as it happened after I used This Razr Utility to Root and install Safe Strap I figure this is as good a place as any... Since the root, install safe strap, create a backup of my Stock ROM my computer no longer recognizes when I plug the phone into my computer (Still booting into stock). I know I have the drivers because it was working find before I ran the program. It wont charge or act as a drive... I also attached a pic of the usb plug because as I sit here looking more closely at it, it almost looks like it is set into the phone to much so now I wonder if its a defective plug (as you can tell b the pic the phone was a brand new replacement form asurion yesterday "NEW" not "refurb". Thanks for any help. Posted Image

Mine are recessed similarly to yours. Are you using a Moto cable or some cheap thing? Have you tried turning debugging on and off? Or maybe its not in Mass Storage mode. I would also try another PC.

And probably not the best place for this.....

I just watched a YouTube video where a guy was showing how to install the new JB Update for rooted and custom ROM users. He said to download a SS JB Blur file and place on external sd card. Power phone off and then open up safestrap. He went and activated stock and then went to install and found the update on his sd card and installed it and bam. That was all he said you had to do and he said he still had root and safestrap. I feel like this is wrong since this whole thread exists. Somebody clear up my confusion.

Yeah that is odd. As far as I know there is no way to install the update with Safestrap installed as you need Moto recovery to install it. You can use this Utility and try option 2 and not wipe data however if it does not work or you have issues you will need to do Option 1 that wipes

I dont mind wiping. LOL.

So from what I understand, I downloaded the drivers and i have extracted the files to a folder on my desktop. I now need to plug phone up and and make sure debugging in on and then power phone off and boot up into Ap fastboot and run the Utility and choose option 1. After that i can choose option 3 to root and option 4 to put safestrap on my phone? Is this right? If not could somebody help.

A few other questions. I currently have a custom ROM and Safestrap3.11 obviously. Do i need to uninstall my current safestrap first before doing any of the above? Also, ive read alot of stuff about people not having root and have to clear data on smart actions? Im confused by that and what exactly does that mean i have to do? Go into my apps and open up smartactions and clear data on it and then all of a sudden i will have root. I know its alot of questions. I have been reading just so you know but i want to get this right before i dive in.

Your process is correct

You don't have to remove anything prior to wiping. That will do it for you

In settings go to manage all apps and SA then hit clear data. That is needed prior to the root process for the process to work correctly

So after i start everything i should do that or after i do option 1, reboot phone clear data on smartactions and then power off and option 3 and 4?

Nope... Root is done while booted into the OS. Clear SA data, plug phone in, make sure you choose MTP USB mode and start root. It will reboot 3 times and you should be good. When that is done install safestrap

OK OK. So phone rebooted. I set up phone without logging into Google. I then went into apps and found the Smart Actions app and cleared the data. Now i need to root and install safestrap. So currently by phone is plugged into my cpu. Do i need to go back into AP Fastboot or can i just bring up the utility and choose option 3, wait for it to do its thing and then immediately after choose option 4 and then BAM ill be done?

EDIT.
Just saw post saying that I dont have to be in AP Fastboot to use utility to root and install SS. SOrry

phone only rebooted once....did i do something wrong? the utility still says waiting for phone to reboot but its rebooted once and nothing is happening. The utility says phase two and it says open smart actions and select get started and battery saver and all this stuff. What is this stuff about?

Lol. Sorry. I get super anxious when i do this stuff with my phone. I just have to learn to be more patient. The process is over , it jus took longer than I thought. So i chose option 3 and rooted and then option 4 and installed Safestrap. So no i want to make sure that everything worked right with doing the whole clearing data in smart actions and all that stuff. I guess it would be best to download a app that check root.

I get it. we were all there once, just seemed like Memnoch was reading to you. :)

if you see the superuser app you should have root, root checker will check, or any tool that requires root will let you know.

I used root checker and i do indeed have root. YEAH. One more question. Do i need to open upon the safestrap app and install it again since i guess it re-did safestrap
