Yes, yes indeed. And by USB port let's be clear that USB 3 is *NOT* an acceptable port to use. It MUST be USB 2. The cable should be the OEM cable that came with the phone (yes, it matters). And drivers should be up to date from Moto.

Also, uninstall all Moto drivers and let your computer reinstall them again when you plug in your RAZR via USB.

pls I need help on my droid xt912. I have read many post but I just want to be sure I'm doing the right thing. my phone got bricked as a result of trying to install CWM backup through bootstrap & now I'm stuck on "ENCRYPTION UNSUCCESSFUL" screen. pls someone should tel me exactly (step by step) what to do. thanks

First off..... CWM is not compatible with the 912..... Safestrap is the ONLY option .... If you are going to use this utility (which will still work just fine)..... The step by step instructions are in the OP ..... And there are instructions within the utility itself.......
