When you're trying to reset the phone, make sure it's not plugged into anything. If it's plugged in, it won't work.

No idea then. I'd try a different port or different PC altogether if possible. Never seen one not recognized by the PC. Until you can get it to show up there you can't fix it.

i have tried on 2 different pc's. the one phone works fine on them both. and this one nothing. I know something is going on, when i plug it in each time i get a notification flash, but thats it.
Well thanks for all the help!
hopefully someone will come along haven seen this.
I know i have repaired, and restored tons of phones for people and this is a first.

Yea, it's nothing I've seen before, either. If it's in AP Fastboot mode it always shows up in fastboot devices. Until you can see it in fastboot you can't flash anything to it.

If this is inappropriate please feel free to tell, me and ill delete, or just delete this post. But if there is anybody that can help with this or even fix it themselves, i would be willing to pay$. I promised my friend id get the phones working, and i borked it somehow. Would really like to get this thing going rather than cruising ebay or craigslist for another one.

Looks like you need Option 1 to wipe out the phone and start fresh.
No dice, it did reset stuff though but still no root.

Did you run the root option right after setting up your phone before logging in to your Google account?

Are you simply trying to root the latest update?

I've got a Razr Maxx, just like I got it from Verizon. My contract is about to finish and I don't really want to buy a new one so I decided to finally root my phone and see if I can't improve certain things...like battery life. After all the updates, the life doesn't compare to when I first got it.

Option 3 in the terminal? I tried that one, I got the screen I put up a few posts ago.

Ok, so after i clear SA data. i need to power phone off and go back into ap safeboot and the utility and then choose the root option and then the install safestrap option . Is this correct?
Nope... Root is done while booted into the OS. Clear SA data, plug phone in, make sure you choose MTP USB mode and start root. It will reboot 3 times and you should be good. When that is done install safestrap
Found these, I'm guessing you are referring to this...
