It's not that I hate fools, but I think we should hide all the warning signs and let nature sort things out.

OK, a little bit more on what's happening here. I'm getting this near the end:
How can I get in an remove the /data/logger directory, so I don't get this failure? Or, is this a red herring, and the problem with root access actually lies somewhere else?

Well now, this is strange. I can push the SmartActions "clear data" button, the data line drops to 0.00, and then when I come back up a level to look at the two Framework apps, their Clear data buttons are dark, and there's that 20K and 4k of data respectively. And when I go back look at SmartActions, it's back to 628K of data - as if I'd never cleared it. Say whut???
Duh... once I deactivated SmartActions and generally RTFM, it all dropped into place.

Yes if you clear cache and data in Smart actions as reported by a few in the update thread. Worst case you can downgrade, root, save root with voodoo and then update again but there are multiple people that have said it works on the update.
Edit:
Just to make sure, I can downgrade using this utility from 98.72.165 to 98.72.16?

I've tried to run it a few times and no success. I've tried option 2 and 3 it goes through the whole process and it does not Root my Razr Maxx
I got this on option 3

[*] Phase three (this will take a minute)...

I haven't messed with Razr's in some time. I got two phones to work on for a friend (both RAZR maxx) I replaced the screen on one, used utility to go stock with no problems. The second phone he just wanted stock. I use the utility and get a failure. Now it is stuck in ap fastboot (flash failed) and none of my pc's will read it. The other phone still gets picked up, v but this one does nothing. I have tried every port, several different cables, and I'm currently trying with TBH programing cable.
Is there any hope or is this mobo no good?
Thanks

The Flash Failure message in itself is no big deal. You just need to get something/anything to flash. We usually just recommend flashing the Boot Logo in Fastboot mode and that generally fixes the Flash Failure.
the command would be: fastboot flash logo logo.bin (where logo.bin is the logo file you will flash)

Looks like you need Option 1 to wipe out the phone and start fresh.

I think this a reply for me, lol.
If so., how do I get it to flash? It's stuck in ap fastboot, and computer will not recognize it anymore. I don't know how to flash in this state

Youre in the right state....you need to be in Fastboot mode on the device and then from the pc use the command line to issue the command.
If you have the utility, then do it from the folder where you extracted it.

I have tried utility and rsd and neither will recognize phone. The other phone gets picked right up, this one did untill it failed?

It should still see your phone in fastboot. You can try re-install of drivers. Reboot phone, reboot pc, and be sure you are using the OEM usb cable that came with your phone. Also no USB 3.0

And try this from a command prompt:
fastboot devices
And show us the output of that with the phone in AP Fastboot mode and connected to the PC with the OEM USB cable that came with it.

Doesent do anything. It just bounces between screen off and a mode.
I'm about to brake it open and disconnect battery.

No need to break it open. Hold volume up and power for 60 seconds. That should hard reboot it. Most likely it'll go back to AP Fastboot mode which is ok. Connect it to USB and run the command I gave you and give us the output.
