1. Uninstall safestrap from the custom rom using the manage apps feature
2. Save custom rom and stock rom backup on computer
3. Delete all of the safestrap backups the phone
4. Should I delete any other safestrap files?
5. What about TiBU backups? (Guessing to delete the safestrap backup from TiBU when I uninstall from the custom ROM and let it backup after installing on the stock side). Should I not backup, or maybe not restore safestrap to a custom ROM using TiBU?
6. Run x912 utility – try option 2 first, then if needed option 1
7. Root
8. Install safestrap on the unsafe side.
9. Make backups of stock rom and custom rom with root unprotected.

I used Matt's utility to reinstall the ROM and it worked like a champ. Thanks for the great utility. I found an old copy of Safestrap installed which was probably causing the issues. Probably put in there by me when I was restoring stuff. Now that I uninstalled the old SS and reinstalled the ROM via the utility, rooted, and installed the new SS version everything is great.
Thanks again for the great utility (utilities) that you develop.

Matt, thank you. My phone is working well. A curious question. I can not boot any custom roms in SS after using option 1. It just keeps looping with the start up screen until I change the boot option to stock. Thanks.
You need to use a ROM that has been updated for the .16 kernel OR you can use Matts ROM Flasher to go back to the .8 kernel to use the ROM's that havent been updated yet.

Here is what I think I should do to to resolve the issue described a couple posts up. I have a question on #4 and #5 as I don't want any interference from old Safestrap files. I am also wondering about using TiBU and restoring all apps to a custom ROM. This would include safestrap and may be causing issues. Maybe safestrap should not be restored as part of the batch restore on a custom ROM. As is pretty evident most of my questions surround how to deal with safestrap Also, a check on my logic for this would be appreciated. Thanks.
I'm not sure what issues you might be having, but I can inform you that I had good results from doing the following:
Backed up apps via Titanium Backup.
Booted into SafeStrap & backed up RAGE ROM (My custom ROM of choice.).
Mounted USB Storage while in SafeStrap.
Plugged Droid into PC and copied Internal & External SD Cards to a backup folder.
While in SafeStrap, wiped Internal & External SD Cards.
Activated Stock Slot.
Booted up & erased Internal & External SD Cards through System Settings.
Rebooted Droid into AP Fastboot Mode.
Took out a Batarang from Matt's Batman Utility Belt.
Used Option 1, Option 3, and Option 4. (Following each steps' directions.)
Rebooted into SafeStrap, backed up Stock Slot, Activated Slot 1 & Flashed RAGE ROM.
Everything worked flawlessly for me. I wanted to clear up everything and start fresh. I'm not sure what you mean in your Step 9. I was giving you my experience, so you can know that deleting SafeStrap and backups from your SD Card should be safe to try. AFTER copying those backups to your computer. I would actually recommend not restoring SafeStrap through Titanium Backup. The SafeStrap in Matt's Batman Utility Belt is the most up-to-date version of SafeStrap.
Hope my two cents helps!
EDIT: Forgot to add my Titanium Backup as the first step in my list.

Just do a batch restore of user apps. However, if you're backup folder contains apps that you don't currently have on the phone, I think the easiest way would be to just make a new folder and then change your backup folder to the new folder in Titanium's options. Then make a back up of user apps, then create the zip. If you do this pay attention and when it asks if you want to copy your current backups from the old folder to the new, choose no.TiBu question to anyone: How do you install a TiBu update.zip of only your current user apps? I'm struggling try to get it to work. Thanks.
Once you've done that you can always change back to the other folder for regular use if you prefer.

Having issues running this download.
OK here's what I got goin on. I downloaded the Dev-Host mirror and extracted the files to a new folder, installed RSDLite and made sure all my drivers were installed.
Now when I open the WindowsUtility file it asks if I want to run it, I click RUN and it opens the file. When it opens and says hit any key to open utility i hit any key and it immediately closes both windows and does nothing!
I also tried it with the Batakang mirror and same issue.

If your PATH in Windows is screwed up so System32 isn't in it then it will fail when I try to call /windows/system32/findstr.exeHello All,

Im having the same issue but I am able to use Matt's (DROID_RAZR_Utility_1.90_WinMacLin) so I am not sure what to do. Any Ideas. Also thanks Matt G for all the support you give us.

Okay I read through most of this thread so I apologize if I missed the answer somewhere...
I currently have ICS 215 rooted, with Safe Strip 2.00 with a deodexed stock ICS 215 ROM.
I will be backing up all apps with TiBu and backing up the sdcards to PC.
Do I just unfreeze everything and run option one? Or should I get rid of SS first or run the 1.81 utility to revert to stock ICS first? Obviously I want to retain root (I do NOT have Voodoo installed)

Worked like a charm, rooted and everything... thanks mattlgroff!! Thanks for making it "easy as pie" (although I know all the background work isn't!).
So at this point am I able to install the latest SafeStrap and a deodexed stock JB ROM? (Is it really worth the extra trouble?)
Thanks again!
