But it will confuse anyone that puts their phone in the BL - because it says the device does not appear to be in BL....

Possibly. I do know that there was another revision to the platform tools, and I think that might have had something to do with it, because IIRC at least one function, if not more, was removed from either fastboot or adb.
I'll have to look it up again, it's been a while.

Not a big deal. Just thought you'd want to know. It works, so that is all good and well.

Heads up. HoG recognized my wiped Pixel 2 XL (Taimen) and saw the device in ADB and platform tools were found - but when I tried to download the new 'beta' (Dev Preview actually) it failed on the DL.
Platform tools found. Found Device: Pixel 2 XL (taimen) D:\Users\nkyad\AppData\Roaming\HouseOfGoogle\IMAGES\taimen\taimen-ota-rpp1.200123.016-939d7f9d.zip SHA256 FAILED! A closer examination of the file shows why, too. Every thing I found online for DLing showed the filename as taimen-rpp1.200123.016-factory-939d7f9d.zip but the actual file on the website is taimen-rpp1.200123.016-factory-280b4500.zip - so for some reason HoG is getting old info.
And I literally just fired up HoG right now to do this.
Stop breaking stuff. Lol. I'll take a look this week. There's some other bugs I noticed as well that need to be fixed. New development monster is ready to go. Just need to find a free minute. Won't be till tomorrow night at the very earliest.

Quite probably the source page simply has not been edited to reflect the new build.

It there a way to get HoG to manually accept a pre-downloaded OTA and run with it based upon the device selected? I have the file,

Ahhh, fsck.
The file I downloaded doesn't match the part of the hash they put in the filename - so, basically, in my usual luck, I came online right when they were updating the file.
FML.
Of course it doesn't - I'm looking at a SHA-1 instead of the SHA-256....
Looking at the correct hash shows that the file is, in fact, intact.

Makes sense. I'll just sideload it onto the Taimen, for once I actually have a device I can play with without sacrificing my daily driver lol.
