Hello, I'm from Brazil and recently bought a Razr i...

My device is running ICS 4.0.4 (i tried to update to JB 4.1.2 by official methods but this wasn't relesead yet for my region...)

Would like to know how to root my device, just look out in the forum but didn't find a "how to" for this.
I saw some files in BataKang FTP Server (http://batakang.com/...ZRi/RootUtility) but dont't know which one I use, and how to use...

PS1: I'm new to this forum, so sorry if this question was posted in a wrong place, and I'm very new to Android world, so don't have a great knowledge about how things works...

PS2: The mainly reason for making root in my device is to remove bloatware, and to change the boot logo and animations (the local carrier put almost 15 apps from them and a long animation during the boot)

Sorry for any english mistake, and thanks in advance

Steps:
1) Unlock bootloader
2) Run a Home-made fastboot for Jellybean 4.1.2
3) Enjoy :)

mattlgroff thanks a lot for your answser!!
looking for a home-made fastboot for JB 4.1.2 I came to this topic that you posted in XDA-Dev (http://forum.xda-dev....php?p=32783457)

And I saw that you listed this firmware (982.50.20.Brasil.en.BR - 4.1.2) for "Retail Brasil", but I have 2 doubts:
1) My current firmware is "871.110.12009.XT890.TIM.en.BR" because I bought it with the carrier "TIM", said that, can I put the firmware "982.50.20.Brasil.en.BR - 4.1.2"?

2) Let's suppose that in the end of this year Moto release officialy Jellybean 4.2.2 for Razr i, I will be able to put this to my device, or I will need to look for a home-made fastboot for Jellybean 4.2.2?

Again, thanks in advance for your help

Yup.

OTA updates work from Point A to Point B only. If you have Point A you can install them. Otherwise you will need a homemade fastboot.

Again, thanks in advance for your help

Hi, I would like to root my Razr i, but I've tried all the options and hopefully not me.
I tried to unlock the boatloader, but after entering the ID code for the Motorola web site, I wrote that I can not unlock boatloader.
Then I tried to root locked boatloaderom through motofail2go, but I also failed.
All done as described, but after the restart and the follow-up I did not root the phone.
Is there any other way to do root?
My version: ICS 4.0.4 - 81.5.39001.XT890.Retail.en.GB
