What exactly is in that, is it bootable or more meant for people building a ROM from the latest OTA?

^^^^^ Nevermind. I thought the file was the complete rom. It is not bootable.

I don't think that will boot. It's more for developers. Download the full rom if you want install and run it.

Thank you for doing this work even though you do not have a Razr/Maxx. Today's my first day running Android Kitchen, so I'm sure this will come in handy for me. ^_^

thanks:

hashcode: safestrap recovery and the safestrap base rom

koush: superuser

dsixda: android-kitchen

darkmiasma: system dump

I'm trying to get my feet wet with developing, but I can't get Kitchen to spit out a bootable ROM for me using your Stock.

I downloaded the first link in your OP. Would you be willing to help guide me or answer my stupid questions? We can PM or gTalk if you like.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Nice! I greatly appreciate your help, and I like your OP edit.

I'm in the process of re-downloading from Droid Developers, and I'll jump on following your basic steps.

Thank you!

I'm looking for a debloated version of stock ROM. I tried to flash this but my phone would not start. Should I be looking for something else?

Are you on the March OTA which is the .16 kernel? Did you wipe?

Sorry I should have clarified, using ss3.11 I created a new ROM slot 1 and flashed. I did do all the wipes before flashing just as a precaution. I am on the march release. I flashed the zip from post 51 if that matters.

I thought thought this would be easier, for the .8 rom there at a few flash able zips. Hard pressed to find them for .16.

Thank you DirtyDroidX for the thorough and patient answer. I am slowly educating myself on the terminoligy but there does seem to be some conflicting information out there. For instance....I thought Nandroid rquired CWM and ROM Manager and I thought that those programs were not yet perfected for use with the Verizon Razr. Did I misunderstand?

Can you define " would not start " please? I was having quite a few issues trying to build my own ROM base, but I was finally able to work out the issues.

I didn't use the zip in post 51, but I just downloaded it and about to test it for you. I'll return shortly with my results; and, possibly, I could help you.

EDIT: Sorry. I couldn't get post 51's attachment to boot up, and these are the steps I took:

Created Slot 2.
Wiped everything.
Installed zip.
Rebooted.

Just last night... I also formatted my Internal SD Card, deleted SafeStrap (and folders), and reinstalled SafeStrap. I figured that might have been an issue for you.

Tell you what... I'll post my own deodexed and odexed Stock ROM sometime today. Thanks to mhous33 and Hicks.. I was able to FINALLY and SUCCESSFULLY get custom ROMs that I'm building to boot up.

"for extra credit, you can sign the package; or you can just disable signature verification in recovery."

This is interesting...  How would one disable signature verification in recovery?

SafeStrap has advanced settings with the option to disable signature and md5 checks.

I was finally able to do an AGGRESSIVELY de-bloated stock build yesterday, but I did not have a chance to fully test and get it uploaded for distribution.

Would you like to test it? I have tested and booted it fully on my xt912 RAZR Maxx running the .16 kernel.

If you still need a tester I will try it out. Had been a tester for my DX a lot.

That'd be great! Send me a PM to remind me!

Do you still have your Droid X? I still have mine; and I plan to develop for that devices, too.

Ok, so I followed the instructions in the op and I think I am missing something. When I Install it and try to boot up the zip I made from the system image it gets past the boot animation and tries to start but I get "unfortunately SystemUI has stopped" and "unfortunately Setup has stopped. I would really like to get my own base up and running so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
