Ok, I know some of us occasionally make an error and forget to back up their root access. Or they don't update their binary. Or something just goes wrong and you can't restore root. There is 1 thing you need to know. You can still use the latest

by djrbliss. But you need to make sure you do 1 extra step. The JB update included a patched Smart Actions app. Since the Razr Blade exploit works by slipping in the back door to the /system through Smart Actions you need to go to Settings>Applications>Smart Actions and click "Uninstall updates". Then you can run the Razr Blade root successfully. This is easier than having to flash back to the Christmas leak, root that and then re-flashing the OTA.

Can we re-apply the updates to Smart Actions after gaining root from the Razr Blade exploit?

Go to the play store - you can remove the updates from there with uninstall

Right, right I got that, but I'm asking if after gaining root can we fully update smart actions and use it without losing root?

Yes that should be fine. However, that is how we get root, so if something happens, you would need to get back to stock again to re-root

It only has an option to open. No uninstall available

The only option I have in the play store is to "open." Any other ideas to remove those smart actions updates?

Do it under manage apps, not from the play store.

Yea I don't know guys...This exploit might not be possible now. There only two options from manage apps are force close and disable, and from the market only the open option is there.

Only thing I could think of that might work is sideloading an older version of smartactions over the newer version, not sure if you can even do that...I'll try and find one and test it.

Ok, well I got it working...I just tried it again, basically did a clear data and also setup the Battery Saver profile before starting the utility and it worked.

I believe clearing data under managing apps was the key to fixing this. Thanks for being the guinea pig now I can point others to this thread for a fix of this problem. :D

For people that THINK they were able to preserve root, check to make sure. Some people are reporting that apps that already had been granted root access still worked, but no new apps were able to request access.
