So now it's been leaked how Maz got Luke's lightsaber. Very interesting story indeed it makes a lot of sense.

This is some speculation but it comes from a source who's been accurate in the past....

 

The theory goes that Lando went back to Cloud City after Return of the Jedi and found it.  Knowing that Maz was force aware, he brought it to her who decided to keep it all these years.

 

Supposedly Maz has a new ship and there'll be a discussion on that ship and Lando will go to see her.

 

We'll see if that rumor comes to fruition.

Why do people think she has to have some great bloodline? I mean the Skywalker one started with Anakin and no one was asking who his parents were. I love that her story is similar to his yet hopefully she stays on the right path.

They weren't asking about Anakin's because it was answered.  "He had no father" was his mother's response to Quigon.  Whereas with Rey, we're left wondering because she was.  It was central to who she was as a character in both Force Awakens and Last Jedi.  Choosing the dark side so long as she got the answer she wanted.  So yes, this debate is going to rage on for years and that's by design.  But to say only the Skywalkers have power in the force is ridiculous.  Yoda certainly wasn't a Skywalker.  Nor was Mace Windu.  Both were extremely powerful Jedi.  Rey certainly doesn't NEED to come from a certain bloodline to have a strong connection with the force.  That was the entire point they were making in Last Jedi.  I seriously doubt they're going to undo that all now by giving her, and thus by extension the fans, some magical answer to "explain it all" when it doesn't need to have an explanation.  Hopefully in Star Wars IX we see her grow beyond the need for answers in that part of her life and she can move on to choosing who she wants to be instead.  That is what makes the story compelling.
