Razr Maxx, About a year old.. not even. And that procedure didnt' work. Something is corrupt now in this Rom or Slot. I just had to boot into my other Slot Rom - Aviator :

If you have an older phone lower freq to like 1275! Oc may not be worth it for you as I have read that some first gen razrs have no tolerance for the higher freqs.

Won't let me boot back into Rage Rom to try that. Eternal boot loop now like 15 seconds into the animation. I was just in Slot 2 Aviator Rom succesfully.

Trying a sort of "Dirty flash" now by wiping just cache/dalvik & system and proceeding with re-install of Rage. Trying not to have to arse around with all my apps and setup again.

It doesn't really make sense either because the OC modules wouldn't have even had time to kick in with this aborting load in the animation before the ROM could get to the final booting stages.. Correct? As in, SetCPU wouldn't have even run until actual complete boot if I'm thinking this correctly to set the values.

The modules load at boot. So it could be the problem I just don't understand why you and no one else myself included.

I'm back in with the above method. I'm hesitant to flash the 2 extra files now and proceed with any OCing but also curious.... :

Well after a full evening, night, and into this morning the ROM is running more fluid and lag free than ever with no overclocking mods added per the OP so I am now reluctant to even try them again and will likely just keep things as is.

 

Strange: I swear back on an earlier build of either JellyBean or back on Gingerbread, I ran a Rom (can't recall it's name) that provided for OCing and things went well.

 

Maybe I did something wrong in the install of the additional .zips per OP instructions? It says something about don't flash them together but nothing about rebooting in between each one so I simply flashed them one by one in the order noted BUT did not reboot or anything in between. I have no idea.... :

Man I don't know I was looking through posts and the smanager "unable to save" thing concerned me. Maybe when you edited freq. something got messed up. I don't blame you if you don't wanna try again. That is scary when you get a boot loop. If you do pm me and we can go through it together. You are the only person out of about 80 who have done this that had this problem. These kernel modules were written for ICS and recompiled for jb. They aren't perfect but I have done this several times to test and never had problems. I always do it on a clean flash of the ROM.

OK so I've never had to do this but the fix for the SMS problem was this:

Dial this *#*#4636#*#*

Should bring up a menu to select network mode

Select cmda/evdo/lte (or the closest option) lol

Then go and toggle airplane mode on/off.

At this point you should be able to text message

Hope this is correct I am going from memory and I never had to do it personally.

@charm this does not survive a reboot. But if you simply toggle airplane mode on off after reboot it should enable SMS again.

Hey brother you should really walk through this with jl90 in getting this to work for you. I had some problems but nothing like you're having but jl90 was very very helpful and walk me through it, jl90 and the others have always been very helpful when ever I've had issues I'm overclocked and running smoothly.
