Da fuq did I just read???This is an argument that has been going on since the Droid X days to my knowledge. Basically if it makes you feel better wipe away. Of course my mom always told me if you wipe more three times your playing with it.

my goals are modest, I want to stay on ICS and debloat. I'm prolly overthinking since I just finished reading 1000001 posts on modding the bionic, so I have just a few ?'s.
1. will simply running 247 allow me to get off the ota path and still use the mods for ics?
2. is the stock slot(before update) on ss what is referred to as the safe side?

2) no, the stock side is the unsafe side since it is unsafe to flash or mod it

About a month ago I started asking how I could stream-line all the Bionic Stock Mod's into one zip. After a lot of question asking to DLuke, T3T3Droid, JayRod, and JP1044 I've finally baked my little Kang of all the sock modifications for .246.
I Give You...
Real Stock

Sorry about that but it is a known issue with the RAZR M launcher. I'd offer to take a look at it but I'm no dev, I'm simply a guy who figured out how to decompile, recompile, and bake stuff in the Android kitchen. Much smarter people have looked into it and come up empty handed, on the bright side the GPS toggle in the pull down works.I like the orange color... btw, GPS toggle force close

Are you trying the drop down menu GPS toggle? I have not used this ROM so i can not say which homescreen he is using but i know the razr-m home screen GPS option in the side menu doesn't work. When i first introduced the mod we tried to figure it out but everyone that was looking into to it came up empty handed.
The atrix homescreen doesn't have the side menu but still allows you to use the circle widgets.
