Probably to keep from someone over doing it, or liking their own or a friend's post too many times beyond reason?
I understand not wanting people to like their own posts; maybe there is an option to prevent that specifically? As for liking other users' posts, I don't see why there needs to be a limit. Has someone been overdoing it?

Yeah and with some forums/people they care way too much about post count, posting a lot of useless 1 word posts to boost it.
