Hello,

I have an XT912 that just did something strange. I have not changed the operating system so it is still stock.

When I plug it in to a charger now the phone turns on a white light in front. Then does not turn on. Can anyone tell me if this is consistant with needing a new battery?

The charging port looks good, not damaged.

I have tried a couple of different chargers.

Plugged into the computer the light stays on.

I am charging it right now overnight to see if that will work since I read somewhere to try that. I do not feel the LCD is bad since on other phones I would at least get a vibrate when the phone is plugged in.

Any ideas?

It is a battery problem. Make sure to use your Moto cable not a cheapo.
Try this
Connect Razr to wall charger
vol up+vol down+power at same time
In bootmenu navigate to bp tools (vol down) and select (vol up)

Razr should present the moto logo and start charging hopefully. Wait patiently 'till charge is complete (100%)

Shouldnt be an issue...always good to have backups.

I plugged in the phone using original charger both computer and wall and tried the method you suggested. Nothing happened. The phone did not turn on at all. Looks like I will need to spend some cash (ugh) to replace the battery. Feel very confident that this will correct the issue once the new battery is in. Will keep you posted.

My wife recently had this same issue. White light meaning its plugged in and not charging. Sometimes the light wouldn't come on at all and reported 5% charging and stuck there. Tried the factory programming cable from TBH to see if it would allow me to boot bypassing the battery after it totally died. That failed too. Got a replacement for it but still scratching my head as to why... hardware? Software? Guess I will never know.

EDIT: Her phone was bare stock ICS unrooted.

I had this problem with my bionic when I was on vacation last year. Wife ran it dead when we were at a bar and I plugged it in when we got back to the hotel. I didn't think anything of it until morning when I also noticed that the led was white and it would not charge at all. Tried pulling the battery, pulling the sim but nothing worked. What did work was I just plugged it into the car charger. I have no idea why that worked for me, or if it will work for you. Once I plugged it into the car charger it went right to the Motorola logo then to the battery screen. I let it charge to about 5% and it turned right on. I then turned it back off and plugged it back into the wall charger and it charged like normal. The wife was so worried that she broke it because I had just got this one for a replacement and it was only our first day of vacation.

I tried the car charger method this morning after reading the post. No luck on my phone. Hoping the new battery that I have ordered will do the trick.

Means dead cells in battery. Had this happen once.if within a yr there send you free refurbished one, if not buy new battery on eBay and swap it

Great News, I just changed the battery and the phone is now live. Looks like it was just a bad battery. Hope this topic helps others in the future. Thanks to everyone that offered solutions.

Same thing here.  Replaced the battery and the charge light would be bright when the plug 1st connected, just for a split second, then go dim.  After a little while trying to get it to fire up, nothing.  No bright light, no dim light.  Nada!!!!

 

Do the internal charging systems on these go out very often?  I've had the phone over a year so chance or a warranty replacement.

 

Any help is appreciated!

That sounds like a worn USB port/cord ..... Those contacts will wear out possibly rapidly depending on how often you plug/unplug..... I've had my RAZR since release day and have replaced the USB/charging port twice... .

Had similar issue with my wife's moto x.  Somehow she ran the battery dry and even with charging overnight, the green light came up and then off then nada.  I recalled I bought one of this little device back in the day for my droid X

I plugged that into the Moto X, then plug in a micro usb charger cable, left it over night and then checked first thing in the morning.  When I attempt to power on, it briefly give me the recovery screen then went out again, but this time battery icon appear with 0%.  I just then unplug the red adaptor, plug in the charger cable and left it until it charge to 100%.

My motorola droid razr xt912 charge and it shows that its charging but it stucks on 5%. Not increase from 5% or at which percent it stucks. Please help me? Is it a charger fault or mobile fault?
