SafeStrap is what I always use. Bootstrap used to be dangerous, but with fastboot files it isn't. SafeStrap is nice because if your ROM doesn't work you can always go back to your non-safe stock ROM and be fine when you are away from the computer. What is preferred bootstrap or safestrap?
RazrX v1.1 is a great ROM and it will actually even install over 1.0 with no wipes at all needed, but not recommended.

"CAUTION!!!! MAKE SURE THE ROM IS ON SD CARD EXT BEFORE BOOTING INTO RECOVERY!!!!"
Why?
The internal memory is /sdcard, while the external card is /sdcard-ext. If you had the file on /sdcard, booted into recovery, and wiped you would not longer have the ROM waiting to flash (would have just been wiped). It is meant as a reminder to this effect I believe.

If I app2sd all my apps can I sd2phone them back? Or will I lose -everything- installing this ROM? Never upgrade rom before (noob).
With an app2sd setup not 100% of the app necessarily moves. The goal of app2sd is to minimize internal usage, not entirely eliminate it. Also, the reference to that location in the OS would be missing. Better off grabbing Titanium Backup and creating backups of your important data with it, then restore the data after the flash.

Just don't wipe data before you flash. Its compatible flashing over RazrX 1.0 without wiping. Titanium backup can restore apps+data I am not familar with apps2sd and sd2phone.If I app2sd all my apps can I sd2phone them back? Or will I lose -everything- installing this ROM? Never upgrade rom before (noob).

Data wipes don't wipe /sdcard/ though, you have to specifically go and wipe it. And bootstrap/safestrap have sd and sd-ext support. I don't get itThe internal memory is /sdcard, while the external card is /sdcard-ext. If you had the file on /sdcard, booted into recovery, and wiped you would not longer have the ROM waiting to flash (would have just been wiped). It is meant as a reminder to this effect I believe.
