There is no current root method for 9.30.1

Those that can follow directions will not need a link to Motochopper 1.3, which no longer exists.  Get the original Motochopper from here:

Now, if you are on 9.18.79 (or 9.20.1 as it might show), you can follow these directions:

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

Google for "motorola usb driver" and install it.

 

DIRECTIONS:

 

o) Get this:

o) Extract the boot.img from it

o) Flash the boot image using AP Fastboot mode: fastboot flash boot boot.img

o) Reboot and run motochopper

o) Get this:

o) Flash the boot image using AP Fastboot mode: fastboot flash boot boot.img

o) Reboot and you are done

 

WARNINGS:

 

o) If you are on any other build than 9.18.79 (or 9.20.1), following the above directions *WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE*.

o) If you are not able to follow the directions above, DO NOT USE THIS ROOT METHOD UNTIL YOU CAN.  That does not mean asking for step by step instructions.  It means GO READ AND LEARN BEFORE DOING.

Tucs you gotta add the mr2 fxz link. My rsd script needs to get added to the unzipped mr2 fxz directory. Then they can flash it. Also I'd add a step to ensure the su binary is updated before they protect root with voodoo. Otherwise this looks great!

FWIW, another option, for folks who do not mind going through a full wipe, is to use Matt's Utility to downgrade to 9.16.6 update and root.  You can then protect root, accept the update and restore root.  I have done this twice on my Maxx HD.

Yes, you missed the fact that i only provide the xml script, not the full MR2 FXZ.  My xml file needs to be extracted into the extracted MR2 FXZ directory.  Then in RSD they flash with my script not the one that comes with the FXZ.  So we need to provide this link for them and to explain to extract the files to a directory, then extract my file into it.

So extract those files, then extract the SamuriHL_Downgrade.zip into the same folder, then select the SamuriHL_Downgrade.xml in RSD to flash it.  This will downgrade to MR2 while keeping data.

Same process, different FXZ.  I can see if my RSD script is "universal" between the M and HD.  I'm not sure when I'll get a chance to do so.  If you can post the XML from a working FXZ it'd speed things up.

Good job guys! You will get the kinks worked out soon I am sure, but this looks pretty good.

 

Tutorials are hard to write properly and clarity and thoroughness are critical, of course.

Edit: Here is a link to the edited XML for the VZW_XT907_4.1.2-9.8.1Q-66_1FF RAZR M that should work the same way on that device.
